This week Jack had an important meeting. I was concerned about him and the outcome of the meeting. Throughout the afternoon, I found myself saying little prayers for him, that he would have peace, be able to present his message effectively, that the outcome would be positive. I prayed as I changed diapers, walked to school, did the dishes-- throughout all my day-to-day activities. When Jack called me to tell me everything went well, my first thought was to go to my knees and give thanks to the Lord for the peace and help he gave.
As I have reflected on this experience, I realized that this is exactly what the Lord commanded us to do when we were told to "Pray always." This constant, small prayer in my heart and mind for something important to me will always be answered, whether it is about an important meeting or how to deal with an unruly child or how to cope when I am exhausted. I don't know why this is a challenge for me to remember to do. I pray in the morning and night, over meals, with my family. I know the Lord wants to help me, and will do so as I keep a prayer in my heart for all the little things that I need help with.
