Swine Flu

We watch the evening news. It is a time for Jack to unwind, and the kids get a little taste of current events. There has been extensive coverage of the swine flu. Last night as we were eating dinner, the kids were concerned about the swine flu-- what is it, how do you get it, why is it in Mexico, what is swine, etc. So we had a good discussion about how this isn't something they need to worry too much about, that they just need to be really good about washing their hands and taking good care of themselves. Then they also asked why it was called swine flu, so we discussed how animals could get sick like people, but normally people don't get the same illnesses as animals, but this time the pigs gave the flu to people. Our bodies didn't know how to deal with it, so people are getting really sick.

And then this morning, I got this picture in an email from my Aunt. I just about died laughing!

How to get the Swine Flu:

I think that gets 4 stars for the gross factor. I would have just died if that was my toddler licking a pigs snout. Gross.

Oh, I'm just cracking up! Hilarious picture-but I gotta agree with Tera, if that were Katelyn I would of probably had a heart attack!

Pete sent me that picture too--right after our day at the petting zoo. A cow actually did lick my friend's two-year-old on our outing, but luckily it was only on the cheek.
