Liken the Scriptures

Nephi counsels us in 1 Nephi 19:23 to "liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning." In our family scripture study, I haven't really introduced this topic too much. Right now, we are still working on reading all the big words and fancy language. But tonight the kids figured it out for themselves.

We are reading in 2 Nephi 15, which is where Nephi is quoting from the prophet Isaiah. In verses 28 and 29, Isaiah talks about the roaring of a lion. Now when Rebecca reads, she likes to read with expression. So when the verse talked of a roaring lion, she sounded like a roaring lion. Well, Joseph quickly picked up on this and climbed over so his face was right in Jack's face and roared at him. Miriam quickly joined the chorus as well. The roaring continued through the rest of scripture time and through the prayer. I took this short video to capture the children likening the scriptures to themselves.
